The Stampede Western Invitational Art Exhibit and Sale kicks off its 17th Annual event with the Opening Night Gala on Wednesday, June 22, 2016.
The Opening Night Gala will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 5:30 pm at the Island Grove Events Center lobby (425 N. 15th Ave.). Tickets can be reserved in advance for $40.00 each or $60.00 after June 17th. This exciting evening will provide patrons with the first opportunity to purchase the displayed art, as well as meet the attending artists. After the fixed priced sale there will be a buffet and a live auction of quick draw artwork and other pieces that were donated by the artists. Proceeds of the live auction will benefit the Stampede Foundation scholarships.
In honor of the Stampede Western Invitational founding members, two $1,000 scholarships designated as The Holland and Ketterling Scholarships, will be awarded during the Gala. Weld County high school and college aged student artists are eligible to participate and compete for the awards. The winners will be announced at the opening night gala and their work displayed throughout the art show.
The exhibit is open to more than 220,000 Stampede visitors each year, and has sold over $1,000,000 of art throughout the past 16 years. Not only is this show a fantastic cultural and programming addition to the Greeley Stampede, but it serves an educational purpose as well. The net proceeds will benefit Stampede Foundation scholarships that are awarded to Weld County high school seniors each year.
The Stampede Western Invitational Art Exhibit and Sale sponsored by First National Bank runs during the Greeley Stampede June 23th through July 4th, and is open until 9:00 pm daily. It will be free with park admission. The show portrays our rich history showcasing western paintings and sculptures. Visitors are encouraged to browse the diverse range of art exhibits.
