August 12, 2014 (GREELEY, CO) On Saturday, August 9 in
Colorado Springs, the Greeley Independence Stampede was inducted into the Pro
Rodeo Hall of Fame. The ceremony took
place outside of the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame Museum and included 9 other
inductees including Saddle Bronc rider Glenn O’Neil, Steer Wrestler Byron Walker and
Bull Fighter Miles Hare.
The Greeley Stampede was one of only 4 committees (Clovis
Rodeo, Snake River Stampede, and Rowell Ranch Pro Rodeo) inducted during the
ceremonies.
James Herman, Greeley Stampede Rodeo Chairman, accepted the
Belt Buckle and Bronze Statue. Herman said, “The 2014 Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame
Committee Induction is an unparalleled tribute to all Stampede volunteers
throughout the years. It is an
achievement which is not dominated by the accomplishments of one committee but
shared by the successes of every volunteer and staff member since 1922.”
The Stampede also wanted to share this great honor with the community
for their commitment to its success as well as all of the dedicated sponsors
that have helped to support the event year-in and year-out.
This distinction puts the Stampede into an elite group of
Rodeos throughout the US and Canada. It will be a standard to maintain as they
work towards their 100th Anniversary in 2022 and beyond.
The Greeley Stampede completed the 92nd Annual
event on July 6 and will wrap-up the 2014 event at the end of their fiscal year
on September 31. Get Western for the 93rd
Annual Greeley Stampede will run June 25th – July 5, 2015.
