INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE RESULTS

The traditional Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade is a holiday staple for many Greeley residents as well as out-of-town visitors. As one of the largest Independence Day parades, this year’s lineup included over 110 entries with an estimated 40,000 spectators. As in year’s past, the parade start was signaled with a flyover which included the Med Evac helicopter and a six plane formation featuring the aerobatic Rocky Mountain Formation Team. Following the formation was a group of pilots and planes from EAA Chapter 117 based at the Greeley Airport including Lee Devlin in a Vari-Eze, RV7 piloted and built by Trum Sager, Russ Dent in his own RV9, and Bill Pfund flying his antique Luscumbe. Of course it would not be the Greeley Stampede Independence Day Parade without the iconic herd of longhorns. The herd consisted of more than 50 longhorns from Chain Ranch.

Each float entry is judged as they begin the parade route for a chance to be best in show. The judges rate the floats in six categories including theme, craftsmanship, animation and special effects, proportions and presentation, and public appeal. The top four floats from this year’s parade and their respective categories are:

  • Best Band – Colorado Masonic Band
  • Best Equestrian – Allnutt Funeral Services
  • Most Patriotic – Union Colony Marines Detachment #1093
  • Best Float – Lowes

The Greeley Stampede would like to thank everyone that participated in this year’s parade as well as GMC for sponsoring the event.
